Men Suits for Every Occasion
Suits for Men
Unbeatable Quality and a Wide Variety of Wool-Blend Suit Styles for Men
Find the ideal size and fit of suits for men for any occasion: from business suits to semi-formal occasions.
Tip Top has dressed Canadian men since 1909, and suits on this page come in two cuts. Modern Fit is a straight cut with extra room through the chest, arms and legs. Slim Fit tapers from the chest to the waist for a closer, tailored silhouette.
The suit jacket and suit pant are sized separately, so a 40 Tall jacket can sit on top of a 34-inch waist. Jacket lengths come in Short (5'8" and under), Regular (5'9" to 6'0") and Tall (6'1" and over). Check your chest, waist and inseam against the suit size guide before you order.
Express Your Style with Our Versatile Suit Colours: From Classic Black to Bold Red
Colour sets the tone of a suit before anyone notices the cut. Our men's suits run from beige, black and blue to green, grey, purple, red and white, in solids, plaids and checks.
The Beige Suit : Casual Elegance
A beige suit belongs at summer weddings and outdoor ceremonies. The light tone pairs with pastel dress shirts and tan leather shoes, and a stretch fabric keeps it comfortable in July.
The Black Suit : Timeless Elegance for Every Occasion
A black suit covers more dress codes than any other colour: evening weddings, galas, funerals and the boardroom. Wear it with a white dress shirt and a black tie for formal occasions. When the invitation says formal but not black tie, a black suit stands in for a tuxedo.
The Blue Suit: A Stylish Choice for Any Event
Navy is the first suit in most wardrobes. It rarely misses. One navy suit handles a job interview, a wedding and client meetings in the same month. Lighter shades like steel blue and aqua read more seasonal and work best from May to September.
The Brown Suit : Understated Charm
Brown runs from dark taupe to cognac. It wears warmer than grey. A brown plaid suit is made for fall weddings. Pair it with a cream or light blue shirt and a brown leather belt.
The Green Suit: A Touch of Nature-Inspired Elegance
Green adds colour quietly. Dark green reads almost neutral at a semi-formal event, while lighter greens suit spring weddings. White or pale pink shirts keep the look clean.
The Grey Suit: Modern Sophistication
Grey comes in light grey, mid grey and charcoal. Charcoal is the most formal of the three and the safest business suit colour. Light grey suits daytime events. Because grey pairs with almost any shirt, a grey suit is the most versatile suit you can own after navy.
The Purple Suit: Sophisticated and Unique
Purple suits, from deep purple to wine and burgundy, are popular prom suits and special occasion picks. A black shirt or a silver tie keeps deep purple refined.
The Red Suit: Bold and Confident
A red suit is for the guest who wants to be remembered. Burgundy is the wearable end of the range. Brighter reds belong at prom and themed parties.
The White Suit: Crisp and Contemporary
A white suit is a warm-weather statement for beach weddings and summer parties. Keep the rest light: a pale blue shirt, tan shoes, linen over flannel.
Introducing boys' suits: shaping the next generation of stylish men
Our boys' suits dress ring bearers, junior groomsmen and students heading to a school formal. They come in black, light grey and indigo, so ring bearers can match the groomsmen in those shades.
Dress for every occasion at Tip Top: Your premier destination for men's formalwear and event suits
Complete Your Look with Stylish Accessories
A suit is half the outfit. The shirt, tie, belt and socks decide whether it reads office, wedding or night out, and Tip Top stocks every piece under one roof.
Dress Shirts
Our dress shirts come in the same Modern Fit and Slim Fit cuts as the suits, so collar and cuffs line up with the jacket. Non-iron and 360° stretch fabrics hold their shape through a long wedding day. White and light blue work under nearly every suit colour.
Ties and Pocket Squares
The tie sets the formality. Start there. Choose a solid silk tie for the office, a patterned one for a party, a bow tie for black tie. A pocket square adds colour without a second loud pattern: match it to the tie's accent colour, not its main one.
Belts
Match the leather belt to your shoes, black with black and brown with brown. A slim dress belt fits suit pants loops. Suspenders sit better on high-rise or pleated trousers.
Outerwear
Canadian winters call for a wool overcoat long enough to cover your suit jacket. A knee-length topcoat in navy or charcoal works over every suit on this page, and our parkas handle the days a topcoat can't.
Socks
Dress socks should match your pants, not your shoes, so the leg line stays unbroken when you sit. Patterned socks are fine for weddings and prom. Save solid socks for a job interview.
Easy purchase and returns on all suits for men
Returns are simple. Orders over $99 ship free within Canada, excluding Nunavut, Yukon and the NWT. If a suit doesn't fit, you can return or exchange it at any Tip Top store, or start a return online, within 30 days if it is unaltered.
Affordable men suits by Tip Top - From slim suits to classic styles
A Tip Top suit costs less than a typical suit rental, and you keep it. G Grafton, our own label, makes many of the solids and plaids on this page. Three things lower the price further:
- The free-pants offer: buy the jacket and the matching pants are included when it runs.
- Piece of Cake, our free wedding planner, applies group pricing to parties of 3 or more.
- Klarna splits the cost of your suit into instalments.

How do I choose the right fit for my suit?
Fit comes down to four checks. Our guide on how a suit should fit goes deeper.
- Measure your chest and waist, then pick your jacket size and pant size separately.
- Choose Modern Fit for more room or Slim Fit for a tapered line.
- Check the jacket: the shoulder seam ends at your shoulder and the jacket length covers your seat.
- Hem the pants to a slight break over the shoe. Most Tip Top stores do pant hemming in store, and select stores offer same-day alterations.
If you're unsure about sizing or need help selecting the right fit, our customer service team is always here to assist.
Our team answers sizing questions seven days a week. Call 1-800-465-1244 or message us online.
What kind of suit should I wear to a formal occasion?
For an evening wedding or a corporate gala, a black or charcoal wool suit with a white shirt is the safe choice. Navy and grey lead daytime wedding suits for the groom and groomsmen. Semi-formal events leave room for blue, brown or burgundy with a patterned tie. If the invitation says black tie, wear a tuxedo.
The later the event, the darker the suit.
No matter the event, our business suits and formal wear will help you stand out with confidence.
Try your suit on at one of 102 stores across Canada. An associate handles the fitting and marks the hem in one visit.
Can I create custom colour combinations with my suit separates?
Yes. Suit separates are sold as a separate jacket and pants, so you can wear a navy suit jacket with grey trousers on Monday and the full navy suit on Friday. A matching suit vest dresses it up. Mixing works best when the two fabrics share a similar weight and texture, such as two wool blends or two cotton weaves.
One navy jacket and two pairs of pants give you three office outfits.
